Watch: Red card de Allende escapes with warning

SPRINGBOK centre Damian de Allende escaped with a warning after being red-carded in a 25-24 loss to New Zealand this weekend after an epic Rugby Championship match.

The substitute was sent off four minutes from time in Cape Town having floored All Blacks fly-half Lima Sopoaga with a late charge.

It proved a costly transgression as Sopoaga kicked the resultant penalty to give his team an eight-point advantage at Newlands stadium.

A Rugby Championship foul play review committee said in a statement “that the offence did not warrant a red card in all the circumstances and has issued a warning.

“The player is, therefore, free to play and will serve no suspension.” South Africa next play on November 11 in Ireland at the start of a European tour that also includes Tests in France, Italy and Wales.
