David Warner retired hurt after being struck on the back of the helmet by a Josh Hazlewood bouncer.

DAVID Warner was forced to retire hurt on day two of Australia’s intra-squad match in Darwin after being struck on the side of the neck by a Josh Hazlewood bouncer.

Batting in Warner XI’s second innings after Smith XI declared its innings at 6-181, Warner was struck in the third over.

The Australian opener was back on his feet quickly and appeared to be okay after the blow but immediately walked unassisted to the dressing room to be assessed.

Warner is currently icing the area and being assessed by the team doctor.

Upon being felled by the short ball, Warner immediately picked himself up and started walking straight from the field, not even stopping to pick up his bat.
