Steph Curry: Warriors star explains big change he has made to his game this season

Warriors, who take on Miami Heat tonight (3.30am BST), have lost two of their opening four matches at home.

Curry has been in sublime form with a season-best of 31 points in the win over LA Clippers last week.

But the two-time MVP has often been overzealous on the defensive end with six turnovers in the 133-103 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

And how he is trying to tone down his style of play to help Golden State.

“It’s getting away from bad habits of reaching and understanding that I have to focus for however I’m out there on the floor to resist the temptation to reach for steals or deflections,” Curry said.

“It’s kind of weird because I don’t play a lot of pick-up in the summer so it maybe that when you get in that competitive atmosphere for the first time you want to go for everything.

“That might be part of my mentality when you get back in that competitive live action.

“I feel so juiced up ready to go.

“I feel like I can get every steal, make every play and when you have four other guys that can defend at a high level that’s probably not my job.

“I’m obviously not a shot-blocker so I’ve got to play my role on the defence and it took me a couple of games to figure that out.”
