Sims, Hancock return to Test squad

Ruan Sims has been named in the Jillaroos’ 25-player squad for the May Test.

THE Jillaroos should be bolstered by the return of co-captains Steph Hancock and Ruan Sims for the Anzac Test match, with both named in the initial 25-person squad to be announced today.

The two experienced campaigners are a boost to an already strong squad that will begin their training camp on the Gold Coast before the squad is cut to 17 on Sunday.

Sims missed the Jillaroos’ historic first ever win over the Ferns at this year’s Auckland Nines and sat out the All Stars game after having wrist surgery and issues with her heel. Hancock’s last Test match was in 2015, but she played this year at the Nines and All Stars after recovering from finger surgery and knee problems.

The Test, played in a double header with the men’s match in Canberra on Friday, May 5, is the next step in preparations for the World Cup at the end of the year.

The full squad will be named at 2pm today.
