Roger Federer vs Marin Cilic LIVE updates: ATP World Finals latest score and highlights

Roger Federer vs Marin Cilic is expected to get underway at 2pm UK time and it’s the Swiss who is the clear favourite to win.

Federer is already through the to semi-finals of this competition after beating Alexander Zverev and Jack Sock in Group B.

Cilic, meanwhile, has lost both of his matches to Zverev and Sock to end all hope of him qualifying for the semi-finals.

This may be seen as something of a dead rubber but Federer will want a win to continue his excellent form.

The 36-year-old will also be hoping to reserve energy for the semi-finals with a swift victory here.

Federer has already been taken to three sets once this tournament and won’t fancy another long match today.

The match starts at 2pm in London and you can follow all the action and highlights below…

ROGER FEDERER VS MARIN CILIC LIVE UPDATES

(match starts at 2pm)

Marin Cilic

Cilic has already lost two matches, having let slip third-set leads against Zverev and Sock.

Discussing his defeats, the Croat said: “Definitely disappointing in both matches in that third set, being in a good position, putting myself in a good position.

“But, yeah, unfortunately I didn’t close it… It’s part of the sport, so I’m just going to try to regroup, get a little bit refreshed, try to play another good match.

“What makes the difference, I think with these top guys, is if you don’t take the chances, it’s one point here and there.

“I’m just going to try to be a little bit more stubborn in my preparations maybe for the next match, and hopefully next year.”

Roger Federer

Speaking after beating Zverev in his last match, Federer explained how his serve is doing plenty of the work in his recent resurgence.

“In some ways I feel like it’s been a season where playing freely has served me well. In the bigger moments, I try to smile on the inside and think, you know, like it’s all good,” Federer said.

“I was getting a bit frustrated with some of the shot selections at 5-1 in the third. I’m talking to myself, saying, ‘What am I even getting upset about? I’m leading 5-1 in the third. I’m one game away from qualifying in the semis.

“You want to get upset? There’s zero reason for that. I think it’s important sometimes to remind myself that it’s all good.”

Federer vs Cilic head to head

Roger Federer, rather unsurprisingly, boasts the head to head advantage over Marin Cilic.

Federer has won seven of their eight encounters, the most recent being this year’s Wimbledon final.

Federer won 6-3 -1 6-4 that day – much to the delight of the London crowd.

Guess what? The fans at the O2 today are likely to be just as behind their hero today.

Cilic’s only win over Federer came at the US Open semi-final in 2014 (6-3 6-4 6-4).

Welcome

Hello and welcome to vs Marin Cilic at London’s O2.

Federer is the heavy favourite heading into this match and for good reason.

His two wins so far this week have earned him progression to the semi-finals.

As for Cilic, he is already out of the running after losing to Alexander Zverev and Jack Sock.

This could be a one-way affair in London.
