Roger Federer vs John Millman LIVE: Federer eyes US Open quarter-final spot

Federer – who is chasing his first success at Flushing Meadows since 2008 – will face Novak Djokovic should he reach the quarter-finals.

The Swiss legend dispatched Nick Kyrgios in straight sets on Saturday evening to book his place in the fourth round.

Federer has set his sights on claiming a 21st Grand Slam title and has yet to drop a set so far in the Championships in New York.

And Federer has revealed he has already practised with Millman, whom he has respect for.

“I’m a big fan of John. Maybe not that many people know him but he’s a real hard-working guy out there and those are the guys who have all the respect from us top players in the locker room,” Federer said.

“He’s just come to Switzerland to train with me before the grass-court season so we know each other quite well, a super friendly guy, and I’m very happy for him that he’s gotten so far.

“But now I’ll try to stop him, so we’ll see how it goes.”

Millman was thankful for getting the chance to hit with Federer.

He said: “Any opportunity to hit with the great man, I would take. I would pick up balls for him back then.
