Real want left-back Hernandez, 19, to make a controversial £21m cross-city move from arch rivals Atletico Madrid.
Spanish newspapers have been saying the transfer is on the cards for months – but no official confirmation has been made.
Palmeri, who works for a number of news outlets, was asked about a deal in an #AskTanc session today.
And he replied: “It’s basically done.”
Hernandez has spent the season on loan from Atletico at Alaves where he caught the eye.
However, he caught the headlines for the wrong reasons last week.
He was accused of sexual assault in a car outside Marbella nightclub by a 20-year-old woman.
It was alleged the pain had gone out for drinks in the city before going back to his car where they began to engage in sexual activity.
The woman then claimed Hernandez failed to stop when she asked him but the 19-year-old was released without charge due by police.
Hernandez has chosen to go on holiday in Marbella instead of linking up with the France Under-21 squad – a decision that has riled boss Sylvian Ripoll.
Ripoli claims hasn’t heard from the defender as to why he hasn’t travelled.
