Ray Wilkins: Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba send their best wishes to Chelsea legend

The Chelsea and England legend was rushed to hospital on Friday evening after suffering a cardiac arrest at home.

Wilkins is now in an induced coma, fighting for his life surrounded by friends and family.

On Friday, Wilkins’ wife Jackie told the Daily Mirror: “He’s in hospital, he’s had a cardiac arrest and is in intensive care.

“He is not in a good state at all, I’m afraid. He’s critically ill.”

Since the news broke, the footballing world has been quick to send their best wishes to Wilkins and his family.

And Lampard and Drogba, who both worked with the 61-year-old during their time in west London, were among the thousands of well-wishers.

“All thoughts and strength with this man and his family tonight,” Lampard wrote on Instagram.

“An absolute Gentleman. #raywilkins”

And Drogba echoed his former team-mate’s sentiment, sending his own prayers via Instagram.

“Just found out about the news, be strong Ray Wilkins and family,” he said.

“We blue army are sending you our prayers on this religious day.”

As well as starring for Chelsea and England, Wilkins also played for Manchester United, AC Milan, Rangers and QPR.

Recently he has been working as a pundit for Sky Sports and Talksport.
