Rafael Nadal vs Dominic Thiem: LIVE updates from Madrid Open quarter-final clash

Nadal is looking unbeatable on clay once again this week having dispatched Gael Monfils and Diego Schwartzman in straight sets.

Neither of his opponents so far had done much wrong in their matches, but the Spaniard took advantage of every opportunity presented to him.

But he faces a much tougher test today in 24-year-old Thiem, who has nine singles ATP Tour titles to his name so far.

The Austrian has had to come from a set down in both his matches this week against Borna Coric Federico Delbonis.

However, he holds a decent record against Nadal in his young career, winning two of their eight encounters and all their previous meetings have been on clay.
