Novak Djokovic: What Serbian needs to do to get back to his best REVEALED by pundit

That’s the belief of Greg Rusedski.

The Serbian has joined back up with Vajda, who was his coach for 11 years as Djokovic challenged Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray at the top of men’s tennis.

Djokovic – one of the sport’s greatest ever players – won 12 Grand Slams during his decade-long player-coach partnership with the Slovak and became just the third male player in history to hold all four major tournaments at once after his 2016 French Open success.

But the 30-year-old has struggled with injuries since then and over the past three months has endured his worst streak of form since the end of 2007.

Djokovic – who has slipped down to No 13 in the ATP rankings – lost out in the Australian Open fourth round before back-to-back below-par early exits at the Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open added to his struggles.

As a result he has since undergone a change of management, parting ways with both Andre Agassi and Radek Stepanek earlier this month with neither partnership having lasted over a year.

But former world No 1 Djokovic has been training once again with former coach Vajda in Marbella, Spain, as he attempts to regain confidence going into the clay-court season – and it has been confirmed that the two will work together for the near future.

No decision has been made about what will happen beyond the coming months, but Sky Sports pundit Rusedski believes that if Djokovic wants to return to the summit, he should partner full-time with Vajda.

Former pro Rusedski said on Twitter: “Marian Vajda back with Novak Djokovic.

“If they get back together full time I believe he will get back to his best sooner than later.

“Sometimes you need to go back to the people and team that you were most successful with. Why change a winning formula?”

Djokovic – who missed the second-half of 2017 with a troubling elbow injury and has yet to rediscover his best tennis since – will return at the Monte Carlo Masters next week looking to end his wretched winless streak.
