BOXING fans have flooded Twitter with funny memes mocking the fight of the century between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather knocked the UFC star down in the tenth round of his boxing debut at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Social media blew up with memes mocking McGregor for “spooning” Mayweather at points in the bout and for the way he was so convincingly outgunned by the US fighter.

Months of preparation and trash talk whittled down to a one-sided schooling by the American, who now boasts a glittering 50-0 record.

Mayweather let McGregor throw some punches at him in the first three rounds to figure him out but then turned on the class to win the fight.

Viewers moaned about the way the American beat Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and Mayweather recognised that.

He said: “I gave the fans what they wanted to see. I told them that I owed them for the Pacquiao fight. I must come straight ahead and give them a show.”

But some Twitter users felt the fight did not deliver.
