McGregor Mayweather: Conor McGregor CRIED after losing third MMA fight to Artemij Sitenkov

McGregor has spent the last few months preparing for his fight with Floyd Mayweather in a Las Vegas showdown that will see him pocket a basic earning of £62million.

But Sitenkov claims he was a far cry from the confident, cocksure figure he is today when he beat the Irishman back in June 2008.

“He was crying after and was being comforted by his trainer,” Sitenkov told the Daily Mail.

“I went home and didn’t think of him again. Then, a few years later, wow.

“UFC, fame, everything. This thing with Floyd Mayweather, wow.”

Sitenkov has discussed his famous win over McGregor before.

Back in 2015, he revealed that he was picked by the Notorious’ longtime coach John Kavanagh because he looked like an easy win.

“John thought that McGregor could defeat me,” he was quoted as saying by bloodyelbow.com.

“According to his words, I was a fighter who already had experience in overseas performances, was in the rankings and they didn’t have to pay me much.

“I paid for a ticket from my pocket and flew to Ireland to fight.”

The Kazakhstani also said he was happy McGregor had been able to forge such a fine career for himself.

“Yes, I defeated McGregor. So what? He was just a teenager,” he said.

“This fight is impossible now because there are two weight categories between us. He has his own destiny and I have mine.

“He wins in UFC and I’m happy for it.”
