Mauricio Pochettino backs Harry Kane to become a Tottenham legend after Stoke win

scored the 100th club goal of his career and hit a first-half hat-trick to put to the sword at White Hart Lane.

Kane’s goals have on course for the top four despite their European woes. And the 23-year-old sent a message to his Premier League rivals by stressing there is more to come.

“It’s nice to get them kind of records but hopefully there will be another 100 within the next few years,” said Kane.

And Tottenham manager believes Kane fits the bill as a club legend already. “I think Harry has the profile to be a legend here,” he said.

“Maybe he has started to be a legend with all his goals and how he behaves, how professional he is and how like a man he is, he has the perfect profile to be a legend for Tottenham.

“He’s one of the best. I’m very pleased for him, he deserves it, he’s very professional and he’s a top man. It doesn’t surprise me. I’ve said many times he’s one of the best strikers in the world.”

Kane’s first half hat-trick had Stoke out for the count before he laid on for Dele Alli to make it 4-0 before half-time.

Kane has now equalled Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku’s 17 Premier League goals in just 21 games – four fewer than both of them.

And he admits sometimes he feels unstoppable. “I was just trying to get my shots away. It was one of those days and I had a bit of luck with the third one but if you don’t shoot you don’t score, so I tried to hit a few off,” he said.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes, who saw his side blown apart by Kane, thinks the support the striker gets from the likes of Alli and Christian Eriksen allows him to rip through opponents.

“He’s either taking chances or creating them for other people or he’s involved in the creation of chances for himself,” said Hughes.

“He’s always involved at the sharp end. He has great movement around him and that movement causes chaos in oppositions defences and he benefits from that but he’s playing in a good team and he’s a good player and when it all clicks it’s very difficult to stop when they’re in that kind of form.”
