Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho gives prickly response to Paul Pogba question

United returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday with a well-earned 1-0 win over title rivals Tottenham.

Anthony Martial’s goal nine minutes from the end proved to be the difference after replacing Marcus Rashford in the 70th minute.

But attention after the game swiftly turned to Pogba with Mourinho admitting the France international is yet to return to full training.

The former Juventus midfielder has been undergoing his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury in Miami but has since returned to the club’s Carrington training ground.

However, Mourinho insists he still doesn’t know when Pogba will be available for selection and was abrupt in his response to further questions.

“I have no idea. Honestly. I am not in control of his recovery process. He is not training with me,” Mourinho said.

“He is on individual work and when a player is on individual work I cannot predict.

“I would expect Marcos Rojo to return after the international break because he is training with me. But with Paul I have no idea.”

Mourinho’s decision to bring off Rashford for Martial in the game against Tottenham brought with it boos from some sections of the United crowd.

But the Portuguese coach admits he has no problem with supporters expressing their displeasure.

“They pay the ticket they can do what they want. They can boo a player that doesn’t deserve to be booed, they can boo a player who is working like an animal, even though the game is not going in his direction.

“They can boo – they pay their tickets, they can boo the manager.”
