Manchester United star Mkhitaryan is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, amid reports he was involved in a training ground bust-up with Mourinho last month.
The Armenia international is no longer guaranteed a place in the team, having been omitted from seven of the last eight matchday squads.
Inter Milan and former club Borussia Dortmund are waiting to welcome him with open arms, while Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil could arrive as his replacement.
And Goal say Mkhitaryan blames his Manchester United plight on Mourinho and the defensive requirements of the 54-year-old.
Mourinho is known to demand the best from the players he has at his disposal.
And much of that involves working defensively, something that does not always sit well with his attackers.
It has previously been claimed Mkhitaryan took issue with Mourinho’s criticism of him after a 1-0 win over Brighton last month.
But Goal say the issue is now so bad the player thinks his manager is the reason he is no longer fully firing.
Meanwhile, Mourinho hinted he could sell Mkhitaryan yesterday by insisting anyone unhappy can leave for the right price.
“I think players can go for the right price. That’s my approach as a manager, in cases where the club advises me,” he said.
“I think every player has a price.
“If a player is not happy, if a player brings with him the request with the number that we consider a good number for us – like it happened for us last season with Memphis and Morgan – I would never say no.”
