Man United summer spree: The trio Jose Mourinho is set to spend £200m on

Manchester United are ready to back their manager further in the transfer market following a successful start to life at Old Trafford.

The captures of Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly last summer saw the club’s spending reach almost £150m.

Sixth-placed United are convinced they have the right man leading them back towards Europe’s summit.

And according to The Sun, Mourinho will be promised an unprecedented budget to ensure he brings in players who can see United compete at the very highest level.

The Portuguese boss plans to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, who is apparently expected to cost £100m.

Alongside the France international, Jose Mourinho is said to be targeting Benfica centre-half Victor Lindelof, having been linked with a move during the January transfer window.

Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo’s form as back-ups convinced Mourinho to hold off on introducing new defenders.

Monaco holding midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, 22, is also on his radar, with United set to strengthen the spine of their first XI.

The three players identified could see United fork out £200m.

The Red Devils’ expensive summer plans are part of a massive long-term project with Mourinho at the helm, as the former Chelsea manager is set to be offered a five-year contract after this season.
