Lynn calamity! Star T20 batsman dislocates shoulder

MASTER blaster Chris Lynn’s horrible injury run has continued on the worst possible stage,

forced to leave the field at Eden Park in the T20 tri-series final with a dislocated shoulder.

Already plagued by neck and shoulder complaints for the past two seasons of the Big Bash League, Lynn fell awkwardly during the ninth over of New Zealand’s innings as he tried in vain to save a single with a sprawling dive while fielding inside the ring at mid-wicket.

He sprinted to his left side before flinging himself and attempting to stop the ball with his right arm, appearing to jar his shoulder on the turf.

He immediately lay prone on the turf as the batsmen scurried through for a single, and Australia’s medical staff came out to attend to the stricken star, escorting him from the field as the batsman clutched his right shoulder in pain.

It was later confirmed that Lynn had dislocated his shoulder but had popped it back into place. However, he will remain off the field for the rest of the innings but it would be then reassessed.

It continues a terrible run of luck for Lynn, who is among the most-dominant batsmen in T20 cricket when fit.

The 27-year-old had his left shoulder reconstructed last year and had also struggled with calf and hamstring issues.

Lynn earlier in the week said his body was feeling the best it had in recent memory.

“These last four games that I’ve played, my confidence has gone through the roof with my physical preparation and intensity out on the field,” Lynn said. “The start of the series was a bit daunting for me, taking off for running and (knowing) whether I can dive or not.

“Now every game, I’m getting less apprehensive and more confident.”

Lynn has made a conscious effort not to dive this summer following a series of crippling injuries to his left shoulder.

He returned to the KFC Big Bash League with his club Brisbane Heat ahead of schedule having undergone surgery on his left shoulder over the winter.

But Lynn’s injury struggles prompted him to pass up a state contract this summer with Queensland.

He was also forced to pull out of Australia’s recent one-day international series against England with a calf issue.
