Ken Hitchcock fired by St. Louis Blues, replaced by Mike Yeo

The St. Louis Blues annoucned on Wednesday that they have fired head coach Ken Hitchcock.

The club, which has lost five of its last six games, have tapped Mike Yeo, an assistant coach to take over head coaching duties.

Yeo was set to take over after Hitchcock’s planned retirement at the end of this season.

Hitchcock had been with the Blues since Nov. 8, 2011, when he replaced Davis Payne.

He led the club to the Western Conference final last season and is ranked second on the Blues’ all-time wins list with a 284-124-41 record that spanned six seasons.

The Blues currently hold the final Western Conference wild-card spot entering Wednesday’s play with 53 points in 50 games played.
