KEVIN Muscat has slammed the representatives of Seb Pasquali, as the talented teen still awaits his FIFA clearance to play for Ajax Amsterdam.

Pasquali quit Victory before signing a contract, enabling him to move to Holland on a free transfer.

Australians are barred from moving abroad until they turn 18, but Pasquali was instructed that his Italian passport would clear him on any issues.

Five months on he is still unable to play an official game for the Dutch giants.

“It’s another good lesson for these younger players who put their trust and faith in people with no knowledge (of FIFA regulations),’’ Muscat said.

“There’s a lot of impostors out there.

“The conversations specifically about Seb were he needed football. He missed a lot of football in the last two and a half years through injury and being ill-informed, who knows how much it’s going to cost him in the future?

“It’s a big lesson for youngsters to understand who you’re getting into bed with and getting advice from because they’re the ones that will mould your career.

Pasquali’s move was negotiated by Michael Panopoulos, a former Portsmouth and South Melbourne midfielder.

It’s believed that Victory, who could not sign Pasquali until he was 17 under Victorian law, were given the impression that he was going to sign before being blindsided by his exit just days after setting up the winner in Round 3, days before his 17th birthday.

“The fact that he was involved at that point in time, I dare say with what we’ve seen in the national team, especially in this selection, he certainly would’ve played enough football to get on that radar rather than sitting idle,’’ Muscat said.

“It’s a harsh lesson because we look at other players in the national team and the A-League who’ve possibly overtaken him while he’s been idle for six months.’’
