THE Wallabies’ captain Michael Hooper has withdrawn from the Australian team to play Argentina in Saturday night’s Rugby Championship clash at the Gold Coast because of a hamstring problem.
David Pocock will move from the back of the scrum to replace Hooper at openside flanker as well as taking on the captaincy duties.
“He felt his hamstring a bit at training yesterday afternoon and with his recent history, we just thought it was best not to push it,” Michael Cheika said.
“He was really keen to play this weekend but a week off will be a good thing for him to just get it right,” Cheika said.
Pete Samu, who started at No.8 when Pocock pulled out of last weekend’s Test against South Africa with a neck injury, returns to the starting side while Ned Flanigan comes on to the bench.
