Kim Green is hoping to lead the Giants to their third straight win.

CAPTAIN Kim Green says the Giants time in the No. 1 spot on the Super Netball ladder will be short-lived unless they are at the top of their game against the Magpies on the road on Saturday.

The first battle between the pre-season favourites will be played out in a Melbourne double-header which also included the match-up with the Vixens and NSW Swifts.

Green says the Giants continue to show great improvement each game they play together but will need to bring their best to Melbourne to inflict a defeat on the Magpies.

“Collingwood will have taken a lot of confidence off their latest win,” said Green of the Magpies four goal defeat of the Queensland Firebirds in round two which followed on from the Vixens upsetting the star-laden team in the opener of Super Netball.

“And they would have taken a big, hard look at themselves after that first lost and addressed a lot of things.

“We really need to be on our game for this one.”

Green says the Giants are on a steep learning curve due to an interrupted pre-season which included four players missing for almost three weeks due to international commitments.

“I really think we can show big leaps of improvement every time we get together,” Green said.

“We started completely fresh, Prats (shooter Susan Pettitt) and I are the only people who had a connection.

“We are still finding our feet, finding the combinations, the connections with each other.”

The Magpies will host the Giants in the first game of a Melbourne double header on Saturday. The Vixens will then play the Swifts in the second match of the night.
