Cristiano Ronaldo won't join Man Utd: Real Madrid will sort the situation – Craig Burley

That is the opinion of pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley, who says Ronaldo needs a “massage of the back” from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

The Portuguese superstar last Friday told his club he wants to leave in this transfer window after getting embroiled in a tax-avoidance situation.

Ronaldo was accused by Spanish prosecutors of avoiding paying tax totalling almost £13million, a claim he profusely denies.

Manchester United were straight away installed as favourites to re-sign the 32-year-old, eight years after letting him leave Old Trafford.

But Burley thinks Ronaldo is just wanting help from Real Madrid and this transfer dilemma will all blow over.

“Man United’s been mentioned, PSG’s been mentioned, every Tom, Dick and Harry’s been mentioned, MLS, China,” he said on ESPN FC.

“A little massage of the back from Mr Perez and all of a sudden he’s a little happier.

“What tomorrow brings I don’t know.

“I think they are going to patch this up, I think there is just a bit of posturing here to try and get around the very tricky situation that he’s in with Real Madrid’s help.

“So I’m saying no (it won’t happen).”
