Conor McGregor will return a better fighter after Floyd Mayweather bout – Kavanagh

The claim comes from the Irishman’s head coach John Kavanagh.

The Notorious lost via TKO in the 10th round when he turned his hand to boxing for the first time in August. Mayweather meanwhile, retired with an impeccable career record of 50-0.

However, it was McGregor’s display which won the admiration of millions.

And the time spent preparing for the multi-million pound clash will begin to pay dividends when he returns to MMA, according to coach Kavanagh.

“To be honest, some of the things we’ve come away with from the Mayweather fight, some of the (improvements),” Kavanagh told the Daily Star.

“When would an MMA guy have a chance to take six months just to focus on one aspect of MMA?

“Never is the answer, they’re always trying to work on everything.

“But when he does return to the octagon, his hands are going to be a lot better than what they were.

“And I’m excited to see that.”

The chance to work on one part of his fighting may see McGregor go onto reach even greater heights in 2018.

However, it is unclear who his next opponent will be.
