Chelsea transfer news: Jamie Vardy’s old club Fleetwood to profit if he seals deal

Leicester striker Vardy has been linked with a switch to Chelsea, with Antonio Conte eager to make more additions to his squad before the 11pm deadline of the transfer window next Thursday.

A bid is supposedly in the pipeline for Vardy, who rejected a move to Arsenal last summer.

Conte is also keen on signing Vardy’s team-mate Danny Drinkwater, although Leicester .

But Fleetwood could be in the money if Vardy completes a move to Stamford Bridge.

Fleetwood Today say Fleetwood would receive a significant fee, as the 30-year-old has a 20 per cent sell-on clause in his contract.

Vardy’s old club Halifax would also be entitled to a chunk of the money from the sale too.

Fleetwood’s chairman Andy Pilley said: “There is potentially a hugely significant sell-on if he was to move for the kind of figures that are being speculated about.

“I think it is impossible for us to say how we would spend any sell-on money because it has not even happened.

“I don’t think it is even right to spend money before you have it.

“It would be a pleasant problem and we watch with great interest the developments at Stamford Bridge and the King Power Stadium.”
