BJ channels Schwarzer, Selwood sent off

BRENDON Goddard has pulled off a remarkable save but the second half ended in disaster for Australia with Joel Selwood sent off.

Essendon star turned Australia goalkeeper Goddard did his best Mark Schwarzer impersonation to deny Ireland a certain goal in the second term.

However, the visitors managed two in the first half to take a stranglehold on the match and the series with the aggregate score deciding the Cormac McAnallen Cup.

Australia’s task was made harder on the stroke of half-time when Geelong skipper Joel Selwood was sent off.

Selwood’s late hit on Mayo’s Chris Barrett earnt him a black card, meaning his match was over but he could still be replaced on the field.

It sparked a melee on the half-time siren with Eagle Luke Shuey in the middle of the fracas.
