Austrian Grand Prix: Valtteri Bottas got an excellent start
Lewis Hamilton was third fastest in qualifying behind team-mate Valtteri Bottas and championship rival Sebastian Vettel.
But a gearbox change means Hamilton was docked five grid places for the race at the Red Bull Ring.
It means Ferrari’s Vettel has an immediate lead when the lights go out as the pair tussle for the title.
Hamilton and Vettel refused to shake hands after qualifying – a reminder of their rivalry after Vettel’s antics in Azerbaijan a fortnight ago.
The race starts at 1pm BST and Express Sport is here to take you through all the action from the Austrian Grand Prix.

Austrian Grand Prix LIVE updates
LAP 22:
1-5 Bottas, Vettel, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Hamilton.
There will be no punishment for Bottas over his quick start. His tyres moves 0.2 second after lights out and the stewards have determined that’s fine. He was just super sharp.
This is looking like a one-pit race and there may not be too many overtaking opportunities at the top of the field.
Bottas leads, with Vettel second running his own race. Ricciardo is third and Raikkonen fourth.
Hamilton remains in fifth and it’s hard to see how his situation will change until the pits.
LAP 10:
1-5 Bottas, Vettel, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Hamilton.
Christian Horner on Bottas’ start: “It looked very close. Daniel came on the radio and reported it. They have all the tools to look at it at the FIA.”
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton is up to fifth. He seems to be enjoying this.

LAP 4:
Vettel is complaining that Bottas may have jumped the start there.
It’s tight. Bottas certainly got an excellent start off his pole position. But did he jump the gun?
The stewards are looking at it…
LAP 1: LIGHTS OUT!
Valtteri Bottas gets the lead and he should stay there for a bit.
Sebastian Vettel still in second, with Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo tussle for third.
Lewis Hamilton weaves up to sixth place, which is better than eighth I suppose. But he would have hoped to be in the podium scrap with Raikkonen and Ricciardo.
Daniil Kvyat into the pits after contact.
Romain Grosjean pinches fourth place from Raikkonen.
And Max Verstappen has had to retire, Fernando Alonso pits.

Race build-up
12:53: We’re nearly ready for light out here. That start is crucial for Bottas and Vettel will sense blood. If his Ferrari gets ahead by Turn 3 then this race could be all over.
Hamilton, sat down in eighth, may be praying for a bump or two ahead of him to clear his path to the top two.
12:46: There’s the typical pre-race singing and dancing. The Austrian national anthem belting out from a school choir by the looks of it.
Just taking a look at the race itself today. The Red Bull Ring is a pretty short track – something Vettel doesn’t like. He believes he could have gotten pole if there was more tarmac to run on.
Turn 1 is a typical F1 turn. It’s a 90 degree right that should benefit pole sitter Bottas if he keeps in the outside lane and cuts across. That will require a good start, of course.
Then there’s a long straight all the way up to a sharper Turn 2. Vettel must be ahead here or the Mercedes could run away from his slightly slower Ferrari.
12:30: Asked about helping Lewis Hamilton out today, pole sitter Valtteri Bottas said: “From what I’ve seen on the pre-race strategy notes, that kind of plan is not on those notes.
”We need to focus on having a good start of the race and we need to win the race.
“And for sure Lewis can fight back from where he’s starting.”
12:28: This is a big race for Kimi Raikkonen as he seeks to negotiate another contract with Ferrari.
Raikkonen wants to be in a red seat come 2018 but Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne has hinted that results must improve first.
“I think Kimi has got to show a higher level of commitment to the process,” he said.
“There are days when I think he’s a bit of a laggard, but we’ll see. I am going to talk to him today, we’ll see what happens.”
Raikkonen has not won a race since being at Lotus in 2013.
11:57: Here’s the video from Sky Sports’ coverage yesterday of Hamilton and Vettel after qualifying.
The Sky Sport Italia reporter tried to calm tensions between the two title rivals.
But Hamilton was having none of it.
“Can you shake Seb’s hand, Lewis?” the reporter asked.
Hamilton responded by saying: “I’ve already shaken his hand!”
It’s Arsene Wenger v Jose Mourinho Mark 2.

Lewis Hamilton arrives early for the race
11:45: Lewis Hamilton was his cool political self yesterday when reacting to his third-place finish in qualifying, which means he will start eighth.
Giving nothing away, he flatly congratulated the two men at the top of the grid.
“Congratulations to Valtteri and to Sebastian. They were both very fast. I did the best job that I could,” he said.
“I will do the best job I can tomorrow. I want to get a one-two with Valtteri so will try to do that.”
11:30: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Austrian Grand Prix.
It’s fair to say there’s been a tense atmosphere at the Red Bull Ring this week following the FIA’s decision not to retrospectively punish Sebastian Vettel for his collision with Lewis Hamilton in Azerbaijan.
Maybe it was the right call, maybe it wasn’t. But Hamilton is not happy with the German and has a point to prove today.
Unfortunately for the Brit, that will mean weaving through the front pack at lights out.
Hamilton starts eighth at the Red Bull Ring, with Vettel second behind Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas.
