GLENN Maxwell has been cleared of injury after being felled by a rising ball from a net bowler during a practice session for the upcoming Champions Trophy at Lord’s.
The all-rounder was struck in the neck following a swift delivery from one of MCC’s young bowlers. He didn’t go to ground but lowered himself into a crouch position until several teammates and team doctor Peter Brukner came onto the scene.
Aussie skipper Steve Smith wasn’t concerned.
“He took a knock to the neck and he is getting some ice,” Smith said.
“I am sure he will be okay.”
Meanwhile, Matthew Wade was lucky to escape injury after being hit in the head by a fast Pat Cummins delivery at the same nets session.

Both players are vital to Australia’s one-day cause and will need to be key contributors if they are to win their first Champions Trophy since 2009.
Australia’s first game is against New Zealand at Edgbaston on June 2. They then face Bangladesh at the Oval on June 5 before facing England Egbaston on June 10.
They will play two warm up games against Sri Lanka on Friday at the Oval and Pakistan at Edgbaston on Monday.
