Arsenal Transfer News: Barcelona and Paris St-Germain eye Jean Seri, Gunners plot £35m bid

Arsenal want to sign Seri and are supposedly ready to trigger his £35million release clause.

Nice are not keen on selling their star midfielder but the draw of playing for a bigger club may prove too much for the player.

Seri is being targeted in case Arsenal fail to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, who has today been linked to Liverpool.

And French newspaper Le Parisien claim two of Europe’s elite clubs are also chasing the diminutive midfielder.

According to Le Parisien, Nice have already rejected bids from Roma and Swansea for the 5ft 5in gem.

They will want for his clause to be broken and expect either Arsenal, Barca or PSG will make their move soon.

Barca’s interest in Seri comes from their inability to sign a new midfielder, with Andres Iniesta’s time at the Nou Camp expected to come to an end in a season or two.

Manager Ernesto Valverde wants a replacement to play under Iniesta to learn the role he will eventually vacate.

An attempt to sign PSG’s Marco Verratti has already failed.

As for PSG, they spent £200m on Neymar on Wednesday and are in the market for more players.

Nice don’t want to sell to a domestic rival but are powerless to stop the Paris club triggering the release clause.
