Alexis Sanchez: Pep Guardiola makes transfer claim as Man Utd close in on deal

Sanchez looks set to join Manchester United after being left out of the Arsenal squad this afternoon.

Arsene Wenger claimed a deal could be concluded in 48 hours and Manchester United are believed to have overtaken City in the driving seat.

And Guardiola said: “He’s an Arsenal player. We have the squad we have. I don’t know what’s going to happen in this transfer window.”

City were leading the chase for Sanchez having agreed terms with him in the summer and again before the window opened.

But they are refusing to pay more than £20m while Manchester United have made an offer to match Arsenal’s £35m valuation and are ready to pay the agent fees.
