WWE Fastlane RESULTS: John Cena loses, AJ Styles retains, HUGE WrestleMania matches set up

John Cena failed in his quest to win the WWE Championship in a Six-Pack Challenge at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

AJ Styles beat Cena, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin as well as Dolph Ziggler and is set to defend the belt against Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania.

Royal Rumble winner Nakamura beat Rusev and got some serious momentum ahead of his Mania match.

Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair successfully defended her title against Ruby Riott and was then challenged by the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble winner Asuka for a match at the Showcase of the Immortals.

The match between Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos and The New Day was interruted by The Bludgeon Brothers who obliterated both teams.

Their violent assault could lead to a Triple Threat Match for the titles at the Show of Shows.

Randy Orton won the US title for the first time in his career after beating Bobby Roode and looks set to defend it on April 8 in New Orleans, Louisiana against Roode and Jinder Mahal.

  • Tye Dillinger, Tyler Breeze and Fandango def. Mojo Rawley, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable

Tye Dillinger pinned Mojo Rawley after he, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable called The Perfect 10 and Breezango an embarrassment.

Dillinger, Breeze and Fandango will be looking to use some momentum ahead of WrestleMania 34.

  • Shinsuke Nakamura def. Rusev

Shinsuke Nakamura got a huge win ahead of his WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 34.

Rusev almost handed Nakamura and the WWE Universe a huge upset as he caught The King of Strong Style with a powerful Machka kick but the Royal Rumble winner kicked out.The King of Strong Style powered through and beat Rusev with two Kinshasa kicks and is now waiting to find out who will win the Six-Pack Challenge for the WWE title ahead of Mania.

  • Randy Orton def. US Champion Bobby Roode

Randy Orton won the US title for the first time in his 16-year career.

The Viper took out Bobby Roode with a mid-air RKO after The Glorious One jumped from the turnbuckle.

Jinder Mahal attacked The Apex Predator after the match but a frustrated Roode took out both Mahal and Orton with a Glorious DDT.

  • Natalya & Carmella def. Becky Lynch & Naomi

Natalya and Carmella beat ex-Smackdown Women’s Champions Becky Lynch and Naomi with the help of the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Carmella took out Lynch with a Superkick and built some much-needed momentum ahead of WrestleMania 34.

Rumours suggest Carmella may cash in her briefcase at Mania, and this win may have indeed paved the way.

  • Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. The New Day (No Contest)

The Usos and The New Day were putting together another classic fight but were interrupted by The Bludgeon Brothers.

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan took out both teams in a violent attack.

Harper and Rowan capped off their assault by powerslamming Xavier Woods on the steel steps.

  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair def. Ruby Riott

Charlotte Flair defeated Ruby Riott to retain the Smackdown Women’s title.

The Queen put out Riott with the Natural Selection and will defend the belt at WrestleMania.

After the match the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble winner Asuka confronted Charlotte and chose her as her Mania opponent.

  • WWE Champion AJ Styles def. John Cena, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler (Six-Pack Challenge Match)

AJ Styles survived a controversial Six-Pack Challenge and is set to defend the WWE title at WrestleMania against Royal Rumble winner Shinsuke Nakamura.

John Cena was desperate to regain the championship after failing to win the men’s Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches.

The Champ started strong by hitting everyone, except Styles, with an Attitude Adjustment.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn came close to winning the title but were shockingly denied by on-screen Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon who interfered in their match.

Owens hit Dolph Ziggler with a Pop-up Powerbomb and Zayn took out KO with a Helluva Kick but both pinfall attempts were broken by McMahon.

Styles picked up the win with a Phenomenal Forearm on Owens and is now set for a dream match against his ex-rival Nakamura.
