World Snooker Championship Final LIVE: Selby 15-12 Higgins frame by frame updates

World Snooker Championship Final: Stephen Hendry’s verdict

Before the first break of the final yesterday we caught up with seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry to get his predictions in Sheffield.

“I’ve not seen past Selby since the very beginning,” he said.

“The way he plays the game he plays like a winner.

“The stamina his opponents have to show and the patience they have to show to beat him is incredible.”

Asked how Higgins can beat defending champion Selby, Hendry said: “John just has to keep that intensity going. I wonder whether John, at his age now, can do it.

“He hasn’t been to a final for a few years now and needs to have the stamina.”

Well, the match has certainly swung in Selby’s favour and maybe Hendry was right to question Higgins’ stamina.

Selby isn’t exactly a young buck at 33 but he hit his groove in the third session to overcome yesterday’s poor start.

Stephen Hendry won seven World Snooker Championship titles in the 1990s
