Bolt said in his yesterday’s 100m heat that he was disappointed with his time and complained about the starting blocks as he recorded a time of 10.07 seconds.
“I’m not fond of these blocks,” said Bolt. “I have to get this together.”
And the Jamaican did just that as he had no trouble in this evening’s semi-finals.
Bolt ran in the last of the three races and recorded a time of 9.98 as he finished second to USA’s Christian Coleman in 9.97.
Great Britain’s Reece Prescod will also be in the final after coming second in heat two with a time of 10.05.
Justin Gatlin and Yohan Blake also make up the start list for the final.
Bolt will be in action again at 9.45pm as he looks to bow out of the London Olympic Stadium with gold.
Former British sprinter Darren Campbell believes Bolt will be in for a tough final.
He said: “Usain Bolt, again, was so slow to react at the gun and was behind Coleman but then he went into another gear.
“Bolt started to have his little look across as if to say ‘young man I’m here and I’ll see you in the final’.
“I’ve no idea who will win the final. Actually, I’ve been bigging up Christian Coleman and I will say… Usain Bolt will win it.”
