Why asking for batteries in a hotel could alarm reception thanks to THIS

Hotel requests are common with guests things such as spare towels or meals.

Reception is often happy to oblige, depending on the outlandishness of the request.

Some may request batteries for the TV remote if it stops working, which seems like a reasonable ask.

What many may not realise is that it alarms receptionists to potentially shocking activity.

Many guests use the request for batteries for a much more vulgar reason.

Maria Lara, who used to work as a receptionist at a hotel, explained on Quora what it really meant for some.

She commented: “If you call us and ask new batteries for the remote control, we are getting ready to cover our eyes when bringing the batteries to you.

“So if you get weird looks when asking new batteries, it is because creeps use this as an excuse to flash their parts at hotel receptionists.”

She reiterated that staff-guests relationships really aren’t desired: “Oh, and once again, we aren’t interested.”

Guests should also be aware of dangerous goings-on within their own room.

It has been revealed that the hotel room peephole could be used for nefarious purposes.

If it appears to have been damaged, guests should immediately ask to change rooms.

The peephole can be easily tampered with to fit in a small camera, which can then film internally.

A high profile case showed how damaging it can be after ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was targeted.

Using a hidden camera, a stalker filmed a naked video of her before posting it online.

After being sentenced, he explained how easy he found them to tamper with.
