The Republican candidate running in what is the most important election on the early 2018 calendar knows he’s in for a tough race.

But Rick Saccone, the Pennsylvania Republican who calls himself “Trump before Trump,” believes that the special election taking place in the Keystone State’s 18th congressional district will, at least in part, be a national referendum on President Donald Trump and his agenda. And that’s a backdrop he feels will assist him in a district that overwhelmingly supported Trump in 2016 and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in 2012.
