WATCH: Storm Eleanor winds prevent BA plane from landing on runway in scary footage

Watch Storm Eleanor chaos as a British Airways pilot tries and fails to land a plane at London City Airport.

The footage was taken during a flight from Edinburgh to City Airport, but faced problems as it tried to land on the runway.

In the jerky video footage, the plane travels through the strong winds over the Thames and towards the terminal.

However, as it comes very near to the runway, the plane does not touch down on the ground.

Instead, it moves quickly over the runway in the strong winds, and takes off back into the skies.

Graham Kirk, a passenger on the flight, tweeted that the pilot deserved a “beer”.

“London City: where each flight today comes with a free rollercoaster ride.

‘Very sporting go-around on today’s BA8705 from EDI. Someone buy that captain a beer!’”

Storm Eleanor flight delays and cancellations have already affected passengers at airports around the country.

Express.co.uk contacted British Airways about the incident, and received the following comment from a BA representative.

“Safety is always our top priority and our highly skilled pilots regularly train to conduct the standard manoeuvre known as a ‘go around’.

“The aircraft circled the airport and landed safely.”

Another viral video taken on a plane shows an extraordinary moment during a flight from Detroit to Oklahoma.

Passengers are shocked as the pilot does a certain act to a flight attendant
