WATCH: Cruise ships crashes into port – smashing walkways into the water

A viral video has captured the moment a cruise ship crashed into a port in Alaska.

The Celebrity Cruises ships attempted to moor at Ketchikan in 2016, a small city when it struggled to enter the port correct.

It was on a seven day voyage from Vancouver to the Hubbard Glacier when the incident occurred.

The Celebrity Infinity cruise liner attempted to dock and scraped along the side of the metal walkways.

As it entered further into the harbour, the ship then caused a walkway to crash into the water after dislodging the base, which made a terrifying cracking sound.

People in the video can be heard saying: “They’re coming in fast.”

Someone asks: “Why are all those people running?” They then realise that it is about to crash and say to “brace” and “hold on”.

Thankfully, despite having as many as 2,170 passengers onboard as the maximum capacity for the ship, no-one was injured in the crash.

However, it was estimated that as much as £2 million of damage was inflicted according to Alaska Dispatch News.

A spokesperson for Celebrity Cruises told MailOnline at the time: “While docking in Ketchikan, Alaska, the Celebrity Infinity struck the pier due to inclement weather.

“Initial assessment shows minor scraping damage to the ship’s hull above the waterline. Our crew is in the process of completing repairs to the ship.

“No injuries were reported on board the ship or on the pier.”

Another boat was caught crashing into a harbour, this time full of tourists.

The whale-watching ship was attempting to dock in San Diego when it came speeding in too quickly.

Tourists watching quickly realise this and all run to get out of the way.

It then slams into the harbour walkway.
