WATCH: Baggage handlers caught doing this to luggage at Manchester Airport

Ryanair passenger Elizabeth Evans, 28, filmed two baggage handlers at Manchester Airport removing bags from the plane.

Having landed at the airport from Malaga at 9:30am that morning, she was waiting to disembark when she spotted the two men.

As they removed the suitcases from the conveyor belt, they took no care with them and threw them onto the trailer.

Their actions shocked the passenger with the little regard given to the luggage.

In a few instances in the video, suitcases slide from the trailer onto the floor, no doubt causing damage.

Evans can be heard saying in the video “that’s mine yeah,” when she saw her suitcase being thrown onto the ground.

Five bags crashed to the floor before the men attempted to pick them up.

She told Manchester Evening News: “I’m very angry and shocked. It was a new case.

“The case is dinted and the protective layer has been torn off it.”

Swissport, who handles luggage at Manchester Airport, said they were “disappointed” and were investigating the incident.

A Manchester Airport spokesman told Express.co.uk they would “not tolerate the kinds of behaviour shown” by the baggage handlers.

“The behaviour of the Swissport employees falls well below what we would expect of ground handling agents at Manchester Airport. We have sought urgent assurances from Swissport that a full investigation will be carried out and swift and robust action taken against those involved.

“In our view, the actions of the individuals concerned are so serious that we would expect Swissport ensure they do not work on the airport site in the future. We have also asked Swissport to carry out an urgent review of their recruitment and training processes to ensure their employees are clear about the high levels of customer service that are required.

“If we are not satisfied by Swissport’s response to these issues, we will consider what further steps are required to protect passengers’ interests, including the full range of sanctions that are available to us as part of Swissport’s operating licence.”

Online users were shocked by the treatment of the bags. One wrote: “They should be made to pay for damages(sic) cases out of there wages.”

Others had sympathy for the workers due to the nature of the job.

They remarked: “They have a very tight time to unload and unload the plane. Lay the blame where it should go.

“The amount of moaning at the luggage hall when people are waiting for their cases…”

Earlier this week, a video went viral after a baggage handler at Ibiza Airport was caught stealing items from a Ryanair passenger’s suitcase.

However, one man at an airport in South Africa was caught doing something much nicer to the suitcases.

Many praised him after he was caught tidying and adjusting the bags on the conveyor belt so they were not damaged.
