The Financial Times claim the offer was made last month to majority shareholder Stan Kroenke, who is yet to respond.

A source said: “Two weeks ago, I thought something could realistically happen. Now I am not so sure.”

5.30pm: Cristiano Ronaldo to Inter Milan? It’s unlikely but the club can definitely afford him according the club’s director.
“The new Chinese owners could comfortably buy the most famous players in the world, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, but the truth is we can’t do that because of Financial Fair Play, which takes into account the development of the club,” Piero Ausilio said.
5pm: Brighton boss Chris Hughton is in good spirits after completing the signing of Ingolstadt midfielder Pascal Gross.
“We are delighted Pascal has opted to sign for us, amid interest from a number of clubs from the Premier League and across Europe, and I am pleased to welcome him to the club,” he told the club’s official website.
“He offers something different to our existing midfielders, as an attacking midfielder in a more advanced position, operating behind the forward line, he will give us a different and new option going into the new season.”

4.30pm: Antonio Conte was asked about Chelsea star Willian being linked to Manchester United in his press conference today.
“First of all the player must have pleasure to stay in Chelsea – this is the first important thing,” said Conte, responding to reports of his star players leaving in the summer.
“For me this is very important. Every player that wants to stay has to have the pleasure to stay.”
4pm: Real Madrid are ready to offer Karim Benzema as part of a deal to sign Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe.
Spanish publication Don Balon claim Real will offer Karim Benzema in order to bring down the asking price of Mbappe with the Ligue 1 side valuing the 18-year-old at around £100m.
Monaco are keen to keep hold of their young talent after he guided them to their first league title since 2000.
3.30pm: Sunderland boss David Moyes is confident of keeping hold of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
“It would need to be a really, really big offer.
“I have said all through the season that sometimes on your journey, you may have to sell to improve.
“But I have heard some really derisory sort of figures getting mentioned, and it wouldn’t be any of those figures, I can tell you that.”
Everton are thought to be showing the strongest interest in the shot-stopper but Sunderland have put a £30million price-tag on his head.
3pm: Brighton are set to make their first new signing of the summer ahead of their Premier League bow with Pascal Gross moving to the south coast from FC Ingolstadt 04.
The 25-year-old has agreed a four-year-contract with the Seagulls and will officially join when the transfer window opens on the 10th June, subject to international clearance.
The midfielder has racked up close to 200 appearances in the top two tiers of the Bundesliga.
2.30pm: Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian have admitted they have reached a verbal agreement with their No 1 transfer target.
And that is expected to be Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
“Basically, a decision on which player we are going to buy in the summer has been made,” club owner Shu Yuhui said.
“And we have secured a verbal agreement with the player as well as his club.
“We have not signed a formal contract yet, and I will not reveal the player’s name during the sensitive period.”
Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp says the club are talking to players that they hope to sign
2pm: Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool are talking to their transfer targets.
“The world is not full of players who will make us better immediately but clearly there are a few out there,” said German Klopp.
“We have spoken to them.
“We have a really good side when our first 11, 12, 13, 14 players are fit.”
He added: “We are a club without financial problems and we have money to spend, but it makes sense to think before we spend and that is what we are doing.”
Could one of them be Kylian Mbappe? Reports in Spain yesterday claimed Liverpool had made a £64m bid for the Monaco sensation.
