Clyne has struggled to force his way back into the Reds first team following injury.

The Cherries are desperate for a full-back and Clyne will head to the south coast this month.

Barcelona have Messi plan

Barcelona are making use of Lionel Messi in their bid to sign Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, it has been claimed.

Barcelona, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, are big admirers of midfielder De Jong.

That involves talking up the prospect of playing alongside Messi, who is widely regarded as the world’s best player.

Mikel is trying to leave Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA.

“I’m going to leave the TEDA, I’m not sure what my next destination will be, maybe I’ll go back to Europe or I’ll stay in China,” he said.

West Ham dealing

More details have emerged of the possible swap deal between Newcastle and West Ham for Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shelvey.

West Ham are trying to offload Carroll before his contract expires in the summer and a return to the north would appeal for the striker.

And West Ham insider ExWHUemployee thinks the deals is being discussed by the agents.

“I think it’s something his agent has proposed,” he tweeted when asked about the deal.

“With us (West Ham) paying some money as well but I think it’s merely a suggestion rather than anything concrete at this point.”

Rangers eye two more deals

Rangers are set to make more moves this month after they complete the signings of Jermain Defoe and Steve Davis.

Both players are due in Glasgow this weekend to seal 18-month moves – Defoe on loan and Davis on a permanent deal.

And Rangers are also looking to get Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara tied up to pre-contract deals.

Both players are out of contract in the summer and would arrive in time for next season.

Solskjaer on transfers

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he will sit down with Ed Woodward and discuss transfer this month.

“The club’s probably had a plan, you don’t just plan the next day and next month but this transfer window has probably been planned since the summer and year before, the next transfer window, the structure is phenomenal,” he said.

“I’m sure they’ve got their targets, I’m here to voice my opinion on that and I’m sure we’ll sit down, me and Ed if we’ve got anything in the pipeline.

“I’m here to work with the ones I’ve got, they’ve all performed and as long as they perform they should get a chance but that’s my job to improve the team and individuals.”

Sanchez wants to quit Man Utd

Alexis Sanchez is ‘determined to leave Manchester United immediately’ according to claims in Spain.

Sanchez has struggled at Manchester United ever since joining this time last year.

He’s scored just four goals in 12 months and looks a shadow of the player from his time at Arsenal.

And, according to Spanish website El Gol Digital, Sanchez wants to quit the club.

Kessie-Bakayoko swap

Chelsea are confident they can sign Franck Kessie from AC Milan for £40-50m, in an exchange for on-loan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

La Gazetto dello Sport are reporting that Maurizio Sarri will do his best to exploit the financial situation Milan are in.

Kessie, a domineering midfielder, joined Milan from Atlanta on loan in 2017 with an option to buy this July.

But Sarri is keen to bolster his midfield options so his side can challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Chelsea have already confirmed the signing of American international Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £58m.

£200m for Rashford

Marcus Rashford could be worth £200m in the future, according to Shola Ameobi.

“I think the more games you play, you mentioned he’s played nearly 150 games now, I think having a manager who’s been a striker, who’s been in those positions can speak to you in a way I guess maybe others haven’t been able to,” he said on Sky Sports.

“I think for certainly for the strikers this is a massive deal for Rashford.

“We see the talent he’s got but if he can add that last little bit, he’s going to be worth £200m in a couple of years.”

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, according to the bookmakers.

Paddy Power claim a ‘surge in betting’ has seen them slash their odds from 33/1 to 6/1 on Koulibaly joining Manchester United this month.

Ozil wants to stay

Mesut Ozil wants to stay at Arsenal despite being linked with a January move away.

Ozil has been in and out of the Arsenal side under Unai Emery but German football expert Raphael Honigstein says he wants to stay put.

“He only signed a new deal in January and I don’t think he will change his mind or reconsider his options,” Honigstein told the Transfer Talk podcast.

“He wants to play for Arsenal – that’s as far as I understand it – now it’s up to Emery to play his hand.”

Defoe to Rangers

Jermain Defoe is set to join Rangers on loan as boss Steven Gerrard looks to strengthen his Ibrox squad in the January transfer window.

The 36-year-old attacker, who won 57 England caps, is closing in on a move to the Ladbrokes Premiership outfit on an 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth.

The former West Ham, Sunderland and Tottenham player, who played with Gerrard for England, has featured only four times as substitute in the Premier League for the Cherries this season.

Rangers ended the year on a high with a 1-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox to take them level on points with the reigning champions at the top of the table.
