Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
TOTTENHAM 1-2 JUVENTUS
MANCHESTER CITY 1-2 BASEL
Tottenham and Juventus go head-to-head in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Wembley.
Spurs are favourites to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League following a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Turin last month.
Juventus were in control of the tie when Gonzalo Higuain scored twice in the first nine minutes, the latter a penalty.
But Harry Kane pulled a goal back and Higuain missed a second penalty, before Christian Eriksen’s free-kick made it advantage Spurs.
Juve, who have contested two of the past three finals, face the prospect of bowing out early unless they can breach Tottenham’s defence.
Tottenham vs Juventus: Why are Spurs wearing all white for Champions League clash?
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
TOTTENHAM 1-2 JUVENTUS
21:43: I just can’t believe Juventus have managed to pull that off.
They looked completely devoid of ideas with Spurs bossing the midfield and squandering chance after chance.
But Massimiliano Allegri’s change of tactics and a couple of confident finishes from Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala have seen them through.
It’s a real sickener for Mauricio Pochettino and his young side, who will be crestfallen, but will have learned a lot from that. Absolutely no shame in defeat.
TOTTENHAM 1-2 JUVENTUS
FT: Nope. Juventus are through after a second-half comeback and some stunning defending from Giorgio Chiellini. Spurs OUT of the Champions League.
Full reaction on the way.
92: Who on earth leaves to beat the traffic now?! Spurs fans are leaving now as Dybala wins himself a free-kick. Is there time for one last chance?
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
91: Oh. My. Word! Harry Kane has just seen a header bounce off the post, roll across the line and cleared by Barzagli.
You literally can’t get closer than that without scoring. Was like watching it in slow motion.
Three minutes added time.
89: Wow, I don’t know why I’m still surprised when Chiellini does that. He’s made two fabulous blocks from Eriksen and Llorente.
Dembele carded for chopping down Costa.
87: That’s Dele Alli done for the evening. He’s replaced by Fernando Llorente as Mauricio Pochettino decides to launch it!
Tense three minutes plus stoppage time…
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
85: Change for Juventus as Higuain is replaced by Sturaro. You can imagine how slowly he left the field…
84: There are 21 players camped inside Juventus territory now as Son blazes one wide.
Buffon screaming at his defence. He doesn’t want tonight to be his final Champions League fixture.
83: Every Spurs fan in the stadium expected the net to ripple there. Eriksen races onto a loose clearance and his goalbound effort is deflected narrowly wide.
80: Why on earth did Juventus start with the back three? The difference is night and day since they reverted to a back four. Asamoah and Lichtsteiner have made a huge difference.
78: Close! A brilliant first-time cross from Son is expertly turned behind for a corner by Chiellini. Kane was ready for a tap-in if he’d missed it.
75: Spurs have finally got themselves together. It’s a training exercise of attack vs defence as we approach the final ten minutes.

TOTTENHAM 1-2 JUVENTUS
73: Erik Lamela on for Eric Dier. Mauricio Pochettino throwing the kitchen sink at the visitors now.
70: Spurs are shell-shocked here. Not sure they or their supporters can believe what has just happened. They have to start making more moments off the ball and regain their composure.
67: Juventus have scored with their first two shots on target in this match, with just two minutes & 49 seconds separating the two goals.
TOTTENHAM 1-2 JUVENTUS – DYBALA
65: Wow, this game has completely turned on its head inside three minutes.
Higuain easily spins Sanchez before playing it through to Dybala, who composes himself before rifling one into the corner.
Huge 20 minutes for Spurs. They need another goal to take this to extra time.

TOTTENHAM 1-1 JUVENTUS – HIGUAIN
63: Remember when I said Juventus haven’t got a cat in hell’s chance of scoring tonight? I was wrong…
Massimiliano Allegri’s changes have made a huge impact with the visitors looking a completely different side.
Gonzalo Higuain ghosted past Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier into the six-yard box to tap home from a flick-on.
61: Now this could get interesting. These changes have made an instant impact with Asamoah immediately teeing up Dybala, whose swerving volley goes wide.
60: Change made. Matuidi off, Asamoah on. That’s an attacking change for Allegri, but it won’t help Juve’s already overrun midfield.
Lichtsteiner (right-back) is also on for Benatia (centre-back), which means Juventus are switching to a back four.
59: Son has another pop from distance but he gets it wrong and it flies miles over the bar. Think Juve are preparing to make their first change. Looks like Asamoah is getting ready.
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
58: Fine, I’ll say it. Juventus haven’t got a cat in hell’s chance of scoring tonight. I don’t want to jinx it, but they’ve been so poor.
Alli booked too. Bit tight but I suppose he led with the studs.
55: Juventus finally get up the other end of the field and win themselves a corner. The visitors load the box but the delivery is utterly abysmal. Chiellini booked for chopping down the breaking Alli. I think that’s four cautions for the visitors now.
53: Spurs are absolutely slaughtering Juventus here. They are winning every second ball and have pressed them to within an inch of their lives.
50: Pjanic and Benatia have both been booked tonight for forceful challenges. Should they complete the comeback, they will miss the first legs of their quarter-final fixture.
Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley
49: Another one of those please! Spurs rode their luck in the first 45 minutes, what with the penalty appeal, but Son’s somewhat lucky strike gives Tottenham a chance to breath. And believe me, the pace has been breathless.
Tottenham need to keep their heads for the first 15 minutes and you suspect Juventus will start to get frustrated at the amount of energy they are having to put in just to contain their effervescent opponents.
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
48: Spurs picked up from where they left off. In control. Juventus haven’t made any changes and are persisting with three at the back.
45: The Juventus players were still surrounding the referee as they came out the tunnel for the second half. More of the same from Spurs, they are 45 minutes from the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
TWITTER ROUND-UP
Ellis: Unbelievable start for Spurs, great to think that possibly 5 out of 8 of the quarter finalists could be English sides.
Michael: Have Juventus even had a shot in this game? Spurs are bossing this. Juventus look a mid-table Premier League team at best…
Kenneth: Son’s goal is probably the most joy English football fans have ever experienced at Wembley.
Without doubt, Kenneth. I also saw Guns N’ Roses there a few years back…

TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS
HT: It’s also half-time over at the Etihad with the score still 1-1.
HT: Huge cheers around Wembley as the referee blows for half-time. Spurs have been far superior against a Juventus side, who don’t really seem to know what they’re supposed to be doing.
Formation and personnel changes expected after the break.
45: Two minutes of added time here at Wembley. I think Juventus will want it sooner because they need to change everything.
43: Juventus know they need to score twice now, even if Spurs grab another the scenario stays the same.
41: Pjanic is booked for a foul on Alli, who went down… rather easily. I’ll let you figure that one out.

Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
40: Son Heung-Min has been involved in 22 goals (14 goals, 8 assists) in 23 appearances at Wembley Stadium this season for Tottenham, more than any other player.
TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS – SON
39: You can’t say it hasn’t been coming.
Tottenham have been swarming all over a strangely open Juventus, and finally have their reward through Son Heung-min.
Kane, Eriksen and Alli are all involved in the build-up with the ball eventually finding its way to Son, who scuffs one at the back post that wrong-foots everyone and beats Buffon.
37: Son is inches away from lighting up Wembley. He angles in from the left before sending a low shot narrowly past the post.
36: Harry Kane with a signature run and shot from an obscenely acute angle that flashes wide. Alex Sandro is next to collect a booking for a late tackle from behind on Trippier.
35: Ouch! Oooh, that could be a retrospective ban. Barzagli ‘accidentally’ lands on Son with his studs. Son kicks out a little but referee Szymon Marciniak misses everything and waves play on.
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
32: Tasty little battle developing between Dier and Matuidi in midfield. Both players are leaving a little extra in during the tackle.
29: Vertonghen with a silly challenge on Dybala. The Belgian went to ground far too quickly and collects the first yellow card of the evening. I suspect it won’t be the last…
28: Good to see Eric Dier back on his feet. The midfielder required treatment after a 50/50 with Matuidi.
I think most of the players will be happy for the breather.
25: Son looks like scoring every time he goes forward. For the 15th time tonight he wins the pace battle before seeing Benatia & Chiellini combine to block.
22: Save! Spurs probe for a few minutes before Son tests Buffon with a header at the back post. The stopper parries it away to Eriksen, whose snapshot is blocked.
MANCHESTER CITY 1-1 BASEL – ELYOUNOUSSI
19: Ready for the comeback of the century? Mohamed Elyounoussi smashes in for the visitors. Just the four more to go…
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
20: Juventus players are currently losing their minds after seeing Vertonghen bring down Douglas Costa inside the area.
It’s a stonewall penalty but the referee doesn’t agree, nor do those pointless officials behind the goal.
19: Nearly, Harry. Kane gives Chiellini the slip with ease before smashing it into the side-netting.
Not quite sure what the defender’s plan is tonight. He’s trying to stick to Kane like glue because he knows he’s not got the legs. It’s not really working.
16: Penalty appeal! Chiellini clumsily goes in on Kane inside the area and looks to have touched the ball with his arm, but once again referee Szymon Marciniak isn’t interested.
13: Spurs win themselves a corner, down the left flank obviously, but no white shirt could apply the finishing touch. One thing is for sure, nobody is playing this safe.
MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 BASEL – JESUS
12: Manchester City ahead already. Shocker, eh? Slick passing move involving Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva and there was Gabriel Jesus to finish the job!
Jesus has scored his first goal for Manchester City since November 18th 2017, ending a 13-game run without a goal for the club.
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
9: Close! Douglas Costa finally gets involved by sending a teasing cross over that’s just too high for Higuain.
The visitors are packing the box at every opportunity. It’s going to leave them vulnerable to the counter…
6: Interesting to see Son hugging the left touchline. He’s out there because 36-year-old Barzagli is almost playing as a right-back.
He’s vulnerable against pace and won’t be getting too much help from Douglas Costa. Son wins the battle down the left far too easily before seeing his low effort parried away to safety by Buffon.
3: Spurs are straight out of the blocks with a high press and penalty appeal. Benatia heads the ball onto his arm before clearing. Would have been harsh.
Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley
2:Immaculate silence for David Astori just accentuates how noisy Wembley is tonight otherwise. Not quite Real Madrid levels yet, but then Tottenham aren’t winning 3-0. Yet!
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
1: OK, we’re off folks. Juventus sporting their snazzy yellow kit this evening. Yep, I’m using the word snazzy without any irony whatsoever.
Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley
19:44: Left back was one of the only two positions Pochettino had to put much thought into, and the selection of Ben Davies shows Danny Rose is certainly not in his very best books. Further forward, Pochettino had already let slip that Heung-Min Son was likely to get the nod about Erik Lamela – with the Korean’s current form, he simply could not continue to leave him out of the starting side.
Juventus, meanwhile, are as menacing as Max Allegri promised. Higuain is indeed fit – as too are the influential Blaise Matuidi and Paulo Dybala, both missing from the first leg.
Tottenham surely cannot start as badly as they did in Turin but neither can Juventus be expected to implode again. I’m going for 1-1 – good news for Tottenham but not for the faint-hearted.
TWO-MINUTE WARNING
19:43: They did indeed. Maybe I’m just projecting but Gianluigi Buffon looked a little more emotional than usual. We’re almost underway.
Tottenham vs Juventus LIVE updates: Latest Champions League action from Wembley
TOTTENHAM vs JUVENTUS
19:40: Quick reminder of the line-ups as the players get ready for the epic Champions League anthem.
I’ve got a feeling the cameras will linger on Buffon for the majority of this…
Tottenham XI: Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane.
Subs: Vorm, Rose, Wanyama, Sissoko, Lamela, Lucas, Llorente.
Juventus XI: Buffon, Barzagli, Benatia, Chiellini, Alex Sandro, Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi, Douglas Costa, Higuain, Dybala.
Subs: Szczesny, Rugani, Lichtsteiner, Asamoah, Marchisio, Sturaro, Bentancur.
ROSE vs POCH
Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley
19:39: The long conversation Mauricio Pochettino had with Danny Rose at training yesterday clearly was not on the finer points of stopping Gonzalo Higuain’s supply line from the right.
As a close observer of the session at the session yesterday, I had noticed a couple of Rose’s passes go amiss during simple skills exercises and some fiddling with his beanie while the rest of the squad got on for it. Perhaps the animated conversation that was caught on camera was simply the result of the Spurs boss also seeing something he did not like.

CAN’T GET NO RESPECT…
19:35: Have I honestly used a Rodney Dangerfield reference in the header? As usual, I’m keeping things fresh and current on this blog.
Anyway, Mauricio Pochettino thinks clubs around Europe are starting to respect Tottenham.
“It’s been step by step, a little step every season,” said the Spurs boss.
“After the group stage we improved our reputation in Europe. Last season was a massive disappointment to be out in the first stage, but this year of course the people in Europe start to respect Tottenham.
“They respect the philosophy we build and the football we play. We feel we have respect for the brand of football we show, they respect us in Europe we feel.”
RIO PREDICTS…
19:30: Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is also backing Spurs but has warned them about Juventus duo Paulo Dybala and Blaise Matuidi who will return for the second leg after missing the first game through injury.
“Dybala’s back, Matuidi’s going to be back as well,” Ferdinand said.
“Two huge players, two very influential players for this Juve team. So they’re going to have to be on their mettle Spurs but I’ve got the confidence in their attacking players especially to get the game done.”

LAMPARD PREDICTS
19:25: Spurs will put an end to Juventus’ current unbeaten record by winning tonight’s Champions League last-16 second-leg clash at Wembley, says Frank Lampard.
“Juve’s unbeaten record will probably end and I think Tottenham can win the game,” the Chelsea hero said on BT Sport.
“I really do. I think they’ve got the maturity now, they’ve got the quality in players, particularly going forward.
“Wembley feels like home to them, they’ve beaten lots of good teams at Wembley. It will be a very tough game, they’ll have to organise themselves brilliantly.
“But I think they’ve got the special players going forward that can win the game.”
EMRE CAN DEAL
19:20: Clearly a make-or-break Champions League clash isn’t enough for Juventus, at least that’s what reports have suggested.
Apparently the Italian side will use their trip to England as an opportunity to tie up a deal for Liverpool’s Emre Can.
It’s thought the 24-year-old German international is close to signing a contract with the club.
That might be the plan, but I’d like to see them take on the dreaded M6 and make it back to Heathrow in time for a flight back to Turin…

BUFFON = LEGEND
19:15: When Gianluigi Buffon talks, you listen. No if, buts or maybes.
Tonight could be the Italian’s final Champions League match, and he’s admitted Juventus face the prospect of bowing out early.
“It will be an uphill battle but sometimes you can get caught out going downhill so we are up for the challenge,” he said.
“Tottenham quite clearly have a lot of great attributes, they have a tried and trusted style of play.”
Give me a moment, I think I have something in my eye…
ELSEWHERE
19:10: Spurs aren’t the only ticket in town tonight folks. Manchester City are also in Champions League action.
Pep Guardiola’s side boast a 4-0 aggregate lead from the first encounter last month and could probably sent out the toddlers and still progress.
I’ll keep you updated with all the goals as they go in at the Etihad Stadium.

TEAM NEWS
19:05: Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has made just one change for the Champions League last-16 second leg against Juventus.
Right-back Kieran Trippier comes into the side in place of the suspended Serge Aurier.
As for Juventus, well, they have some key players back who didn’t feature in the 2-2 in Turin last month.
Blaise Matuidi and Paulo Dybala, fresh from netting a late winner against Lazio over the weekend, are back in the starting XI tonight.
So that’s a front three of Douglas Costa, Gonzalo Higuain and Dybala. There’s also a start for 36-year-old defender Andrea Barzagli.
TWITTER ROUND-UP
Marc: Haven’t felt nerves like this before a game for such a long time, if ever. These are the nights Spurs fans have wanted to be involved in for so long and Poch and the squad have not let us down. Let’s enjoy every moment.
Sian: They don’t get much bigger than this. I cannot wait to get there tonight to cheer the boys on. Come on you beautiful Spurs.
Alfie: Lots of fans experiencing anxiety over tonight’s game against Juve. We must have confidence in our players, they’ve already taken some big scalps, in Poch we trust. The gaffer will select best team & tactics to try & get this job done.

DIER TIME
18:55: Eric Dier to shine?
A lot will rest on the shoulders of the Tottenham midfielder tonight.
A big display against the Italian champions could not only help get Spurs through, it would also send a big message to England boss Gareth Southgate ahead of the World Cup this summer.
HOPEFUL HARRY
18:50: Harry Kane already has seven goals in Europe this season but none of those will matter if Spurs go crashing out.
The England striker’s reputation continues to blossom and he will be desperate for another eye-catching display on the big stage.

MANCHESTER CITY vs BASEL
18:46: Here’s the line-ups for what will certainly be the least anticipated Champions League clash since Liverpool against porto yesterday. Aguero, De Bruyne and Otamendi rested.
Manchester City XI: Bravo; Danilo, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko; Yaya Toure, Gundogan, Foden; Sane, Bernardo, Jesus.
Subs: Ederson, Walker, Aguero, De Bruyne, Adarabioyo, Otamendi, Diaz.
TOTTENHAM vs JUVENTUS
18:45: And the line-ups have arrived folks. Son does indeed start ahead of Erik Lamela, who’s among the substitutes.
Tottenham XI: Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane.
Subs: Vorm, Rose, Wanyama, Sissoko, Lamela, Lucas, Llorente.
Juventus XI: Buffon, Barzagli, Benatia, Chiellini, Alex Sandro, Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi, Douglas Costa, Higuain, Dybala.

SON TO SHINE?
18:35: Erik Lamela was preferred to Son Heung-min in the first leg in Turin but the South Korean’s two-goal salvo against Huddersfield at the weekend must have put him in the frame to start.
Mauricio Pochettino was giving nothing away at his pre-match press conference, though. We’re about to find out…
CUPPA JOE…
18:30: Before we get started, is Gianluigi Buffon wincing because of the chilly conditions or the fact he’s drinking terrible coffee from a cardboard cup?
Italians don’t do bad java. The Sopranos taught me that…

GOOD EVENING
18:20: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Champions League.
It appears that we’ve got a blockbuster on our hands at Wembley tonight as Spurs host Juventus with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
A 2-2 first-leg draw in Turin last month means Spurs are favourites to progress, but it would take a brave man to discount Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
It’s Harry Kane vs Gonzalo Higuain, Dele Alli vs Paulo Dybala, Son Heung-min vs Douglas Costa…
I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s get started.

The Belgium defender recently returned after three months out with a hamstring injury but will not be available at Wembley.
Full-back Serge Aurier is suspended for the last-16 tie, which is poised at 2-2 following Spurs’ dramatic comeback from two goals down in Turin last month.
