18:10: Are Chelsea title contenders again? Lots of esteemed pundits have been saying that the title WILL go to one of the Manchester clubs. But does today’s victory without Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas or Diego Costa prove otherwise?

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Osaka:Tiemoue Bakayoko played the game with almost no match fitness. Looking forward to see him 100 percent along with N’Golo Kante.

Rohit:Chelsea almost came back from behind in the first game, and won this game. They can still get results. Just can’t write them off.

Ravi:Sensational game. We showed great power and Champions spirits to win the game. A huge morale booster. Well played Chelsea!

FT: They’ve done it! Chelsea have beaten Tottenham at Wembley, just as they did in the FA Cup semi-final a few months ago.

Antonio Conte is a few seconds away from cartwheels as he applauds the crowd and shouts “come on!” repeatedly.

FT: TOTTENHAM 1-2 CHELSEA

93: 60 seconds remaining for Spurs to snatch something here. Chelsea look a lot more confident now. Sky cameras keep panning to Hugo Lloris, who’s still lambasting himself.

91: Vincent Janssen comes on for Kieran Trippier. Last throw of the dice.

88: TOTTENHAM 1-2 CHELSEA – ALONSO

Character? How about that for character! Marcos Alonso has restored Chelsea’s lead with a well-taken finish.

David Luiz won possession, Alonso and Pedro exchanged passes and Alonso fired his strike through Lloris, who was definitely at fault there. Straight through him.

85: Chelsea are going to need to show some serious character now. Five minutes plus injury time for a winner.

82: TOTTENHAM 1-1 CHELSEA – BATSHUAYI OG

Danger! Bakayoko concedes a free-kick about 10-yards in from the left touchline. Christian Eriksen steps up… GOAL!

The Dane swings a beautiful delivery into the box, where substitute Michy Batshuayi heads into his own net.

It’s easy to say now, but why did Antonio Conte take Alvaro Morata off?! His defending at set-pieces was vital.

81: Mauricio Pochettino makes another change with Moussa Sissoko replacing Ben Davies. He’s throwing the kitchen sink at Chelsea now.

80: I’m sitting next to a Chelsea fan who’s nerves are absolutely shredded. I think it’s going to take a while for his fingernails to grow back. Ten minutes remaining…

Tottenham v Chelsea: Express Sport brings you LIVE coverage from Wembley StadiumPA

79: Is that Pedro or Zorro? Whoever it is, they’ve come on for Willian. Michy Batshuayi is also thrown into the mix for Alvaro Morata.

76: Eriksen breaks into the box and Alonso is across to block his cross behind. He delivers the resulting set-piece but David Luiz thumps it clear.

73: Willian breaks clear on the counter, slips through Morata, who dithers too much before eventually seeing his shot deflected wide.

Victor Moses collects the ball on the edge of the area, but his rifled shot flies over.

Woodwork! Willian dances forward and unleashes a fantastic shot that rattles the post before being cleared to safety.

70: And here’s the first change. Mauricio Pochettino brings Son into the fold. He replaces Eric Dier. No need for three holding midfielders now. Pedro still waiting on the sidelines.

68: Looks like Pedro will be introduced any moment now. I imagine he’ll be coming on for Willian, who quite frankly looks knackered.

65: Alvaro Morata is proving more useful in defence than attack right now. The towering Spaniard gets up well to head clear an Eriksen free-kick.

62: Spurs are appealing for a handball but replays show Dele Alli’s shot struck Rudiger on the chest. Referee Anthony Taylor correctly waves away the protests.

60: There’s 30-minutes remaining here at Wembley. Spurs haven’t found an equaliser, but as Chelsea tire – you wouldn’t bet against them finding one.

Tottenham v Chelsea: Express Sport brings you LIVE coverage from Wembley StadiumPA

Tottenham v Chelsea: Express Sport brings you LIVE coverage from Wembley Stadium

58: What Chelsea would do for Diego Costa now. Alvaro Morata’s not able to hold onto the ball for any significant length of time to give his defenders a reprieve.

The Blues can’t get out and are continually losing possession. Eriksen’s cross almost finds Kane in the six-yard box but Azpilicueta’s last-ditch block is enough to clear the danger.

55: Bakayoko needs to be careful here. He’s already on a booking and nearly booted the ball away after being penalised… again!

53: That’s naughty. Vertonghen leaves Moses in a heap with a pretty rash flying tackle. He’s lucky to escape with a yellow card. Gary Cahill was off for less last weekend.

51: It looks only a matter of time. Kane sends Rudiger into next week with some fancy footwork, but can’t get a shot away. It’s tricky to judge how Alvaro Morata is playing given he’s been starved of service. He’s the pick of the new signings though with Rudiger and Bakayoko not fully up to speed yet.

48: And we’ve picked up from where we left off: Chelsea defending like beavers. Eriksen and Kane combine nicely but Azpilicueta makes the block. Surely Antonio Conte’s side can’t withstand this onslaught for much longer?

45: We’re back underway folks. Incidentally, there was talk that Spurs were pumping drumming noises through the PA system to boost the atmosphere.

But I’m hearing that the Tottenham drummer has been mic’d up through the sound system because no-one could hear him against Leverkusen. No changes at the break.

HT: This seems particularly relevant today because defence is the new attack, according to .

Chelsea’s strikers netted 28 times last year, well below the average mark of a title-winning side, which usually boasts 38 goals from their forwards.

Instead, the Blues were fired to the league thanks to contributions from elsewhere, including midfield (40, compared to the average of 31.2) and defence (15, compared to the average of 10.4).

Given this was three times as many as Tottenham, and five times as many as Man United, Mauricio Pochettino knew Marcos Alonso would be a threat.

Can’t plan for an absolute peach like that I suppose.

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Paul Brown:Re-jigged Chelsea defence under all sorts of pressure. Fortunate not to concede.

Gary:Decent response from Tottenham. We’ve got to take the chances though. Kane unlucky.

Pratiek:We are somehow ahead at the end of this half. Been lucky. Won’t survive long this way. Needs to get better in the second half.

HT: TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA

47: Ben Davies is off on another run. He wins the corner that Eriksen delivers to Wanyama, who glances wide.

THREE MINUTES ADDED TIME

45: Ben Davies is the next to test Courtois as Spurs look for an equaliser before the break. He lets fly from distance but it’s tipped wide. Tottenham really going for this now.

44: Woodwork! This August curse is getting ridiculous now. Dele Alli sidesteps Azpilicueta far too easily and lays it off for Harry Kane.

The England international cuts inside before slamming his effort against the right post and the rebound bounces to safety.

43: Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley.

Not sure Chelsea have been the better team. But then they weren’t in last season’s FA Cup semi-final either. They are just so clinical when it matters.

How that Eriksen free-kick did not get a touch is anybody’s guess but for all their absentees at the back, Chelsea are holding firm. They just nee to keep reminding Harry Kane that he never scores in August.

39: This is SO frustrating for Spurs. They just can’t get through Chelsea, who are defending very deep indeed.

They have a chance here though after David Luiz is booked for a foul off the ball on Eriksen.

The Dane delivers an outswinger that somehow bounces in the six-yard and manages to avoid everyone! Any touch and we would be at 1-1.

36: Chelsea fans singing: “Sit down if you’ve won f*** all.” Charming. Bakayoko is the next player to receive treatment on a sore back. We’ll be playing until midnight at this rate.

34: There’s a lengthy pause in play while Azpilicueta receives treatment. He’s fine to continue but I reckon that’s at least three minutes of injury time.

31: Alderweireld slides Kane in down the channel but Courtois is on him like a rash. The striker has another opportunity seconds later, but he’s dragged it wide.

Antonio Rudiger, who’s looked externe dodgy indeed, is booked for kicking the ball away. Very silly. Dier goes in late and high on David Luiz. He’s also booked.

29: Oh Willian! The Brazilian playmaker has a perfect opportunity to slip Alvaro Morata through, but he delays the pass before eventually giving it away.

27: Ouch. Bakayoko catches Trippier with an elbow when challenging for a 50/50 ball. After a little treatment and the magic water bottle – he’s fine.

24: TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA – ALONSO

Alli fouls Luiz on the edge of the Spurs area. This is Willian territory. Or is it?

Nope, it’s Marcos Alonso who takes it and produces an inch-perfect curling strike that flies into the top right-hand corner.

Fabulous strike.

23: Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley.

Spurs fans clearly saving themselves for the game itself as from the immediate build-up the atmosphere has been cracking.

Chelsea, through Morata, undoubtedly had the best chance but Spurs beginning to shift on up through the gears with Wanyama and Dembele currently edging the midfield battle.

21: Mousa Dembele goes on a signature jinking run that culminates in Courtois tipping his 20-yard effort over for a corner, which is promptly wasted. Interesting to see that Spurs are taking them short.

20: Lots of flicks, one-twos and failed Hollywood passes so far folks. Neither side have really found their rhythm.

17: Lucky boy. Christensen wafts his leg at a speculative ball forward but completely misses. Dele Alli looks to capitalise on the loose ball but he’s over-eager and blazes over.

16: Harry Kane bursts down the left flank, skips past David Luiz but his cross floats over and out for a goalkick. I made him my Fantasy Football captain today… #DontBelieveTheAugustCurse

14: Sorry to keep mentioning it but I’m still in shock at Morata’s early miss. Chelsea HAVE to be clinical to get a result today.

11: Gary Neville is a big fan of Chelsea in these opening stages. He thinks Antonio Conte’s got his tactics spot-on with Spurs struggling to find space. Harry Kane sidesteps N’Golo Kante, but his well-struck shot is parried away by Courtois.

8: The Spaniard has no excuses there. He was under no pressure, and had plenty of time. The curse of the 50p-shaped head strikes again… Spurs take a short corner but it’s too close to Courtois, who confidently claims.

6: How’s he missed? Alvaro Morata has missed an absolute sitter. Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross is a brilliant one and Morata, unmarked, heads wide.

5: Well this is an unexpectedly quiet start. Both sides are staying composed in the the opening stages and trying to find some rhythm.

3: Yep, as expected David Luiz is playing in midfield today. Should be interesting to see how much creativity the Blues have with Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Pedro and Cesc Fabregas missing.

1: TOTTENHAM 0-0 CHELSEA

We’re underway folks! Music, flags – it feels more like an FA Cup match.

15:59: Electric atmosphere at Wembley this afternoon. It’s filled to the rafters as the players emerge from the tunnel. We’re almost underway!

15:56: Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley.

Lots of white coming along Olympic Way, Tottenham songs blaring across the public address system, “The Game is about Glory” ringing the huge bowl on the digital display panels. The club have done all they can to make this feel like home.

But with empty seats caused by ticketing issues and a few latecomers, there is a definite lack of intensity to the atmosphere just ahead of kick-off.

The 11 players starting the Wembley era for Tottenham all played on the final day at White Hart Lane.

New stadium, then, but same old Spurs.

15:53: Big fan of those trainings kits, although they’re a little too similar for my liking.

Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham (Premier League, May 2016)

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (Premier League, November 2015)

Pick a winner, I dare you. I can’t see Antonio Conte’s side crumbling like they did against Burnley last week. My money is firmly on the draw.

15:48: I’m sure Spurs fans are bored of hearing this, but it’s worth taking a look at their record at Wembley.

Of their last 10 games there they have won two, drawn one and lost seven.

There’s no such problems for Chelsea, who actually thrive at the national stadium with eight wins in their last 10 competitive games at Wembley.

15:45: Analysis from our reporter David Wright.

Antonio Conte has handed Alvaro Morata his first start for Chelsea.

Morata arrived at Chelsea this summer from Real Madrid in a club record £60million deal but is yet to start for the Blues.

The Spain international came off the bench in the shock 3-2 defeat to Burnley last weekend to score and set up another – but he’ll lead the line today in place of Michy Batshuayi.

While fellow summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko, who cost £40m from Monaco, comes in to make his debut for the suspended Cesc Fabregas.

Andreas Christensen and Victor Moses also come in for the suspended Gary Cahill and Jeremie Boga.

Tottenham have made two changes to their starting line-up, with Kieran Trippier and Victor Wanyama coming in for Kyle Walker-Peters and Moussa Sissoko respectively.

I’ve just teleported from the John Smith’s Stadium after watching Huddersfield collect their second-consecutive victory.

I didn’t think I would be writing this, but can Spurs catch the Terriers with a win over Antonio Conte’s side today? Or will Chelsea rediscover their mojo.
