Tiger Woods plays down impending comeback after TRASHING his knee

Woods is set to return to competitive action later this month in the Hero World Challenge after nine months out of the game.

And he seems to be in high spirits ahead of his comeback, positing videos on social media of him in action.

Many former players have warned against expecting too much too soon from the 14-time major champion.

He similarly returned from a long injury lay-off last year to play in the same tournament but that lasted just seven competitive rounds before withdrawing from the Dubai Desert Classic.

The golfing legend began his career with a violent swing-action that he utilised to full effect that helped become the best player in the game.

But the 41-year-old has explained how a multitude of injuries have forced him to change his swing after ‘trashing’ his knee.

“People ask me, ‘Why don’t you go back to your 2000 swing?’ I can’t, because my knee is trashed from all those years of playing that way,” Woods said on a podcast with Geno Auriemma.

“I’ve had four operations on my knee. Forget when my back was bad, pre-surgeries and pre-back problems, people were saying the same thing. ‘Why don’t you go back to 2000?’

“I can’t do that anymore. I have to look for a different way.”
