Woods was competing at Augusta for the first time since 2015 and he played a major part in the TV viewing figures peaking at their highest point for five years.
TV networks had seen viewers dwindle over the last couple of years as Tiger Mania cooled while the American recovered from lower-back surgery.
But his reappearance saw fans flood back to watch the sport which is synonymous with the former world No 1.
Woods also helped to boost the Valspar Championship and Arnold Clark Invitational viewing figures earlier this year by almost 200 per cent.
And fellow professional Justin Thomas thinks the return of Woods has helped to improve attendances at the events.
“He’s the reason probably why the attendance was as high as it was,” Thomas said.
“They weren’t coming out here to watch Justin Thomas.
“They were coming out here to watch Tiger, so I don’t blame them.
“I’d go watch him, too, instead of me.”
Woods now plans to take a short break following his long-awaited return.
“Generally after this tournament, I put away the clubs for a while,” he said.
“I usually take three to four weeks off, through my entire career, and usually the clubs are put in the closet, and I just kind of get away for a while.
“The run-up to this event is pretty hard and pretty gruelling.
“I pushed myself pretty hard to get ready.
“And I peaked at it four times [in his victories] over the course of my career, and it’s tiring.”
