Sir Alex Ferguson: Sign in tribute to Man Utd legend goes MISSING by Old Trafford

The sign put up to commemorate Ferguson’s time at United, near Old Trafford, has disappeared.

The legendary boss had a street opened in his honour five years ago today.

But the sign has gone missing. Neither Manchester United or Trafford Council where aware when contacted by Express Sport and the council is looking into the matter.

Copies of the sign have been on sale on Amazon and are currently out of stock, and it looks like someone has taken the real thing.

Ferguson is currently in hospital recovering from surgery following a brain haemorrhage after collapsing last week.

Ferguson has been sent messages of support while in hospital with Phil Jones paying a moving tribute.

“Just devastated, absolutely devastated,” he said.

“He is such a legend in my eyes.

“He is the one who brought me to the club and gave me that opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“He’s taken me under his wing like a father.

“It was shocking, it’s sad, but I know his character.

“I know he has that fight in him. Hopefully he’ll recover well.

“He has got all his family and friends around him, the support from all the players and staff at Man United, and football around the world.

“When something like that does happen it’s nice that the football world comes together and shows support and we are all rooting for him. I’m sure he will be fine.”
