Although there are no reports of any specific threat to the game, an FA spokesperson said: “Fan safety is of paramount importance and we have robust security measures in place at Wembley Stadium.
“In collaboration with the local authorities and the Metropolitan Police there will be an enhanced security operation for the match on Sunday, to ensure a safe and secure environment for spectators.
“All supporters are encouraged to arrive as early as possible to avoid any delays in entering the stadium.”
Procedures are expected to be similar to those employed for the visit of France in November 2015 in the wake of the Paris attacks a few days earlier.
A Met Police spokesman added: “An appropriate policing plan will be in place. The security threat level remains at severe.
“We routinely talk to all partners ahead of any event and, as always, would encourage those attending to be aware of their surroundings and be vigilant.”

Both FA chairman Martin Glenn and England manager Gareth Southgate had sent messages of support ahead of Wednesday night’s game against Germany, and the latter spoke further after the game to describe how he proud he felt to be able to pay a special tribute on Sunday to those who lost their lives.
“We are proud of wearing the badge and representing the country at a time like that,” Southgate said. “As a nation, we talk about our identity, but part of our identity is to step forward in moments like that and not be put off by people, not be put off by terrorism, we stand firm in moments like that.”
