Roger Federer cruises into Swiss Indoors quarter-finals with victory over Benoit Paire

Federer was pushed to advantage in the opening game of the match but after navigating his way through, he broke Paire in the next game with a forehand and raced in a 3-1 lead.

The 36-year-old then earned a double break with stunning cross court forehand winner off Paire’s wide serve.

Serving for the set, Federer brought up two set points but was guilty of uncharacteristic errors.

However he wasn’t denied much longer as Paire went long to lose the first set in just 23 minutes.

In the second set, Paire kept up with Federer until the seventh game when he went 0-40 down.

And another poor shot from the Frenchman gave Federer the break.
