Roger Federer: Australian Open star tipped for more Grand Slam glory for huge reason

Federer is trying to win the Australian Open for a sixth time and will face Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals of the competition later today.

The Swiss maestro is now the favourite to triumph Down Under, with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic both out of the competition already.

And Enqvist, who reached the final back in 1999, expects Roger Federer to win the competition because of the passion he brings to the court.

“I think (Roger) Federer is still a favourite,” the 43-year-old said ahead of Federer’s showdown with Berdych today.

“It’s incredible that he can play so well, keeping the bar so high year by year.

“Every time you see him, you think that he is even faster.

“I think the key is that he loves tennis and all that surrounds him.

“This passion always drives him, and doesn’t matter how much a high-level player you are, without that passion you couldn’t be at the top for so long.”

Federer will face Hyeon Chung should he beat Berdych today.

Yet Chung is unfazed about the prospect of facing the veteran.

“I don’t know,” he said when quizzed who he would rather play against.

“It’s 50-50, I don’t care.”
