Federer currently hold the world No 1 ranking after winning the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open this year.
The Swiss star has an impressive 20 Grand Slam titles to his name – four more than arch-rival Nadal.
However, Nadal has age on his side and will probably expect to bypass Federer’s tally.
But even if he does beat the 36-year-old’s total, it will not make him a better player, according to Mouratoglou.
“No one played tennis like this,” Mouratoglou told Swiss newspaper Le Matin.
“And no one will play so well.
“His easiness, naturalness that raises from any of his movement, we never saw it.
“And I am sure we won’t see it anymore. There will be other great champions.
“But even if Rafa (Nadal) beats his record one day, no one will have played better.”
Federer is still able to perform at an outstanding level despite being at the latter end of his career.
And Mouratoglou puts that down to a change in routine which many players will copy for years to come.
“Part of the explanation is physical,” he added.
“Roger managed to save energy thanks to an extremely light schedule that, I am convinced, will be soon copied.
“Then there is technique and tactics since he was smart enough to change his game to earn effectiveness and save energy.”
