Queen Elizabeth never eats THESE two foods when travelling abroad

Queen Elizabeth has travelled extensively around the world whilst on state visits during her 65-year reign.

It was recently revealed that Canada has been one of the most popular places she has visited, racking up a whopping 22 visits over the years.

On her state visits, she will often be treated to amazing meals to experience the local cuisines.

A former private chef has revealed some of the things the Queen won’t eat when abroad.

Darren O’Grady, who once served the royals, revealed why the Queen will never eat garlic.

He told Marie Clare: “The Queen would never have garlic on the menu. She hated the smell of it, she hated the taste of it.”

With the pungent smell of the spice, it is also wise of the queen to not indulge in it for polite reasons.

Chef John Higgins, a former chef at Buckingham Palace who cooked for the Queen, reiterated to the National Post, stating: “I suppose, in case you get the royal burp.”

It isn’t the only food she avoids abroad, as she also avoids shellfish when eating in a foreign country.

This isn’t just the Queen, however, as the entire royal family is prohibited from eating it.

According to the BBC, the decision is down to the chance of food poisoning: “The royal entourage likes progress to run smoothly, free from the disruptions of gastronomic indisposition.

“Hence the ban on shellfish.”

The Queen also always travels with a certain iconic drink whenever she leaves the country.

Twinings Earl Grey tea is her favourite, with a special version made just for herself.

Never adding milk or sugar, the hot drink is one that she has no matter where she is in the world.

She also once favoured Malvern still water until this went out of business in 2010.
