Prisoner posts amusing TripAdvisor review of jail cell – but is it all as it seems?

A prisoner appeared to write the amusing TripAdvisor review from when he served time there.

Based at the South Yorkshire Police station, he seems to have been locked up due to knife crime.

Giving the Shepcote Lane Custody Suite a measly half mark out of five, the comical reviewer, named Matte Chete states: “An all-inclusive hotel in a central location, very small portions and bland food.

“Although it does represent good value for money.”

“The hotel is a little dated and my single room was rather small and very basic.

“Four white walls with nothing else to do but stare at them surrounding me and I wasn’t even allowed any visitors.

“Instead of a comfortable bed, I found myself sleeping on a metal block with what felt like a 2 1/2 inches thick waterproof mattress.

“This hotel is not luxury in any way. I checked in after a night out, and won’t be returning anytime soon.”

South Yorkshire Police then replied, stating: “Bearing in mind your visit was completely free, we have to agree with some of the points you’ve raised.”

Not all is as it seems regarding the hilarious exchange, however.

The South Yorkshire Police Facebook page, in which the image was posted, stated it was part of a knife campaign.

They admitted: “We’ve used artistic licence to put this together.”

Facebook users still found the fake TripAdvisor review amusing.

One user realised what his name really meant, commenting: “’Matt Chete’…Machete…It’s not a real person,” after someone didn’t understand the joke.

Other’s joked: “Whoever updates this page needs a pay rise.”

A real bad review can land people with legal action.

One woman’s one-star rating landed her in hot water with a hotel.
